For those of you who are pressing forward to pursue your destiny or “passionate purpose in life”, here are some pointers of what to do when you encounter a “blockage”. I will post this in parts because it’s a lot to take in.
For those of you just joining us, you can start with Part 1 here.
In Part 2, we covered the importance of Meditation/Mindfulness, Trusting Your Gut and Relinquishing Control.
Today is the last part of this 3 part post.
7. Look for “signposts” and follow them. Be encouraged by them no matter how small they might seem. Write them down to keep track of them. Once you’ve got clarity, the “signposts” just show up, don’t they? Serendipity, Synchronicity, Providence, Being at the Right Place at the Right Time, etc. Things just seem to start “clicking” again – you notice little signs of encouragement that you are on the right track. This can happen while you still “feel” blocked or you lack direction about what to do next. Let the signs encourage you that you are not crazy and there’s still hope!
Here’s the most important and the most overlooked step:
8. WAIT – this is the hardest one. Sometimes it’s a matter of timing – you are blocked because it’s not time to act yet. This is especially true when you cannot get clarity or peace about making a decision. Remember: You’ll know WHAT to do when it’s TIME to do something. And often, you’ll feel “stuck” while you are waiting. If you’ve done points 1 to 7 and still have no idea what to do or which direction to take, then the obvious answer is: Wait. Even if it is hard to do so.
9. Relax and have fun. This is supposed to be an exhilarating adventure. If at any point, you no longer have joy, STOP. You are doing something wrong. It is possible to get so passionate about what you are doing that it drives you to exhaustion and burn out. Don’t let that happen. Childlike joy and wonder is the energy behind following your destiny. Make room for it every single day. I promise you won’t regret it.
One last pointer from personal experience:
Surround yourself with people who understand these principles so that they can help you when you feel stuck. They do exist. I specifically cultivate relationships with people who know these things so that when I need a sounding board or another perspective, they can remind me. They might not know all the principles, but they have experienced at least some of them and they help me identify which stage I’m in.
Of course, I am available for consultation – that’s what I’m here for. I am passionate about people finding and fulfilling their destiny. I seem to have a special knack for helping people become “unstuck” when they feel blocked on their path. So, if that’s you, contact me and I’ll help you.
Here’s to your destiny being fulfilled!
