Spirituality – Does It Matter?

Does being “spiritual” matter in daily life? Does it make any impact on whether you are happy and successful? Yes, it does! Research shows over and over that if you cultivate a warm, loving connection with the Divine and with a community of like-minded people, it makes a HUGE difference in the quality of your life.

One primary difference is in your mindset and emotional state. Feeling connected to something “bigger” than you gives your life a sense of meaning. You don’t feel so alone or isolated anymore. It also gives you hope if you believe things happen for a reason. When things don’t go your way, you are able to let go of the disappointment much faster when you accept that Someone is in control and working out an unseen plan.

I often encourage my clients to connect with the Spirit of Truth. I have learned from personal experience how powerful this is! The Spirit of Truth reveals Reality to you – you see things clearly in your life and in your relationships. This allows you to make better, wiser decisions. It reduces your confusion, discouragement and gives you a sense of direction and purpose. I love the Spirit of Truth! [Exercises for connecting with the Spirit of Truth are in my books.]

I also make sure I am connected with my spirit daily. I practice “breathing with God”. It helps me to stay grounded. I sent this out earlier this year. Here’s the link – it’s a great practice for the month of November when we are focused on being grateful. Do you know that if you practice being grateful for 21 days it changes the way your brain is wired? It helps you to become a more positive person. Try it out!

Being spiritual and cultivating a close connection with the Divine DOES matter.People who do it are happier and have a sense of purpose. Some of my clients have asked me to help them cultivate their spirituality – I love to do this! It’s one of my favorite things – so please, don’t hesitate to ask me about it. I have been a spiritual seeker since I was very young so I have many years of experience. I love to help people discover the spiritual connection that will enable them to be happy and fulfilled.

I can’t imagine life without spirituality, can you? It’s like the difference between watching an old black and white movie versus a movie in color on HDTV. You owe it to yourself to try it out – you won’t believe the BIG difference it makes. [By the way, don’t confuse religion with spirituality. Some people have tried “church” or other religious rituals and have come away feeling empty and disappointed. If that’s your only experience of “spirituality”, then let me encourage you – there’s something much more than that! Contact me and I’ll explain – 305-781-6229 or]

Receive God’s Love! Your heart will thank you

Q42 Receive God's Love

Receive God’s Love! Your heart will thank you

Many people have a hard time with this. They don’t feel worthy or they don’t even believe in God.

Do you believe in Love? I think down deep we all do or else we would not long for love. What do you think?

God is Love. That the most basic definition I have heard and it resonates with me. So if I believe in Love, then I believe in God.

Here’s the hard part – are you worthy of love? YES!

Imagine a new born baby. Does it deserve to be loved? Yes! Why? Because it is weak, vulnerable and in desperate need of someone to love it and take care of it or else it will die. Even though you are now grown up, you are still in desperate need of love or else you will die. Your survival depends on it.

So, love yourself enough to allow yourself to receive God’s love.

What if I don’t know how to receive God’s Love? It’s simple. Open your heart, close your eyes, put your hands out and say, “God, I open myself to your love. Please come and fill me with your love.” Then wait. Opening up your heart is something you do on the inside of you. No one can do it for you.

When you open up your heart, you’ll notice a change. It may be very slight at first, but you will notice it. Do this “ritual” of receiving God’s love daily and notice the changes in yourself. Then share that love with others!

If you have trouble receiving God’s love, that’s something I can help you with. I LOVE to help people learn how to receive God’s love for them. You will never be the same, if you do. Feel free to contact me.

Who’s in control here?

Q22 Who's in control

Who’s in control here? You or Me? – God

Just a little reminder to surrender control of the new year to the Higher Power who brings order to the Universe we know. The more we try to grasp for control, the more anxious we become. The more anxious we are, the less we enjoy life. The less we enjoy life, the more miserable we are – and we tend to affect all those around us as well. We also don’t sleep well and don’t make wise decisions when we are anxious.

So, just give it up already! Surrendering control to something bigger than you is incredibly freeing! It brings tremendous peace and joy – when you just let go. Try it! ♥

Do you believe in yourself?

Do you believe in yourself?

It takes a lot of courage and confidence to believe in yourself. And most people do not have that kind of courage or confidence. Some people try to pretend that they do – the whole “fake it ‘til you make it” concept – but it often comes across as cocky, arrogant and self-centered. True confidence comes with humility and grace. There is a big difference – most people can spot a phony and it immediately reduces their opinion of you.

How do you believe in yourself then?

What works for me is to believe in something greater than myself. I see evidence of a Greater Good orchestrating events around me, don’t you? How about when you think of a certain friend you haven’t heard from in awhile? You contact them and find out that they needed to talk to you. You called at just the right time.

Or in business, you are thinking of a new idea and just the right person contacts you with something that will make that new idea work.

This happens to me regularly. I’m sure it happens to you too – are you paying attention to these “coincidences”? That’s orchestration. That’s proof that there is something bigger going on – something we don’t see, but something we can become aware of, if we pay attention.

When I think about how I am part of something bigger, something that is working for the Greater Good of the world, it gives me confidence and courage. I know that I am here for a reason. I am part of an orchestra – I play my part and trust that the Conductor will make it all work together so that it comes out as beautiful music.

I am confident that I have something unique to offer. I am confident that I am here for a reason and that without my sound, the orchestra would be missing something essential to the music being played in this century. It may be hard to identify sometimes, but I trust that if my part was not essential, then I would not be here right now.

This confidence gives me courage to be who I am – without explanation, without excuses. Who I am is enough. I am valuable and I have something to contribute that is uniquely my own.

So, how do you develop confidence and courage to believe in yourself? What gives you the motivation to get up in the morning and face the day? Do you believe in something bigger than yourself?

Feeling empty?

I feel empty. Do you?

Do you ever allow the crazy busyness of your life to slow down enough to realize how incredibly empty you feel inside?

Some people run from this feeling – through alcohol, drugs, being a workaholic, etc.

Some people are overwhelmed by this feeling and they become depressed or worse.

What do you do with this feeling of emptiness? How do you manage it? Why is it there?

My feeling of emptiness feels like the Grand Canyon inside. Like I have this immense capacity that needs to be filled and most of the time, it isn’t. Can you relate?

And nothing satisfies this emptiness – have you noticed? You can stay busy and ignore it. You can try to fill it with work, money, entertainment, relationships, cars, houses, fashion, hobbies, children, etc. – but it never feels satisfied.

I have never found any natural substance that can fill this vacuum.

So I turned to the “supernatural” – that unseen realm we are told exists just outside our natural senses of awareness. People try meditating, yoga, special exercises to calm the mind and body. It certainly reduces your stress, but fill that void? Haven’t found one that does that yet.

How do YOU fill that void? Or do you do what everyone else does and just stay busy so you won’t feel the pain of emptiness? Denial only works for so long … eventually our awareness of that vacuum arises again.

I figured out why it’s there for – at least for me. And I figured out what to do with it. But knowing and doing are two different things.

For me, this gnawing emptiness is there to remind me that there’s more to this life than what meets the eye. That there is a realm beyond our natural possibilities that invites us to be more than we ever believed possible. And it draws me daily to chase after the only thing that I have found that satisfies.

I want more of what fills this place. I’ve got to have it to survive. So I pursue daily. Sometimes a little bit, sometimes a lot. I wake up at night with this longing for MORE. Almost like a drug addict, I can’t live without that connection, that intimacy with something greater than myself. That sense of Being that resonates throughout the universe. That Cause greater than ourselves.

We all feel it calling to us … we just don’t always respond or know how to. It calls us to our best selves. To be more than we ever dreamed possible. To care more that we are comfortable caring. To BE more than we have ever given ourselves permission to BE. It’s an unstoppable Force that is carrying along our entire universe yet it focuses on each one of us personally, drawing us in, calling to us in the night.

You know you’ve felt it. We all have. I call it “God” for lack of a better word. Though that word has been defined so many different ways that I hesitate to use it. But no other concept compares. This Big, Undefinable, Huge, Mysterious Force that calls us to Love and to BE things that seem totally beyond our ability. I call it “God”.

So, if you ever see me refer to “God” in my posts, you’ll know that’s what I am referring to. Not some religious concept on stained glass windows or chanted by a devotee of some system of rules. No, this is much, much bigger than anything I’ve ever encountered in manmade systems or structures.

I ask again: Do you ever allow the crazy busyness of your life to slow down enough to realize how incredibly empty you feel inside? What do YOU do with that feeling?

It’s driving me crazy right now … can’t get enough of what I need to be satisfied, to fill this Grand Canyon size hole in my soul. I must have MORE.
